As a metropolis that lies along Lake Ontario, Toronto offers plenty of water activities that can be enjoyed on a hot summer day. If you’re looking for something to do this summer to not only have fun, but also cool yourself off, here are a few water sports to get into this summer.
Standup Paddle Boarding
There is no better way to get an incredible view of Toronto’s skyline than from a paddle board in the middle of Lake Ontario. Toronto Island SUP offers paddle board rentals by the hour, allowing you to not only get a full body workout, but also cool off and enjoy the scenery. Don’t know how to maneuver on a standup paddle board? No problem, they also offer lessons.
Canoeing or Kayaking on the Harbourfront
If sitting is more your style, consider renting a canoe or kayak from the Harbourfront Canoe & Kayak Centre and paddling around the Toronto Harbour while enjoying the skyline views. If you prefer to go at night, Illuminated Escapes rents glow-in-the-dark kayaks complete with Bluetooth speakers and LED lights.
Scuba Diving
Explore Lake Ontario from below the surface and learn about some of the life that lives in the water. Dive World offers scuba diving lessons, as well as excursions for the more experienced diver. They also have specialty courses like a PADI Wreck Specialty Course, PADI Night Diver Specialty and PADI Rescue Diver Certification.
Surfing at Bluffers Park
Ever wondered if it’s possible to surf in Toronto? It definitely is! Head to Bluffers Park and find the perfect wave to ride. Be sure to check the Surfline Report before you go. Never surfed and want to learn? Surf the Greats offers great surf lessons taught by ISA-certified surf instructors.
